Donate in Memory of Will

Will Thornton served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Jamaica from 2006 to 2009.  He lived and worked in Barrett Town, near Montego Bay, and was placed at Barrett Town All Age School and SOS Children’s Village, a care facility for orphaned, abandoned and vulnerable children.  The fit couldn’t have been better.  Will loved Jamaica, and he especially loved his work with the children, where he taught health and nutrition, literacy, IT, and, most importantly, served as a role model and mentor.

Will carried his love of the people, culture, and music of Jamaica with him for the rest of his life, and had a special place in his heart for the children and community of Barrett Town.  He visited as often as he could, and remained in regular contact with some of the youth that he mentored.  Please honor Will’s life and legacy by making a contribution to Friends of Jamaica.  All donations made in his name will be donated to SOS Children’s Village to honor his commitment to the young people he cared so deeply about, ensuring his work will continue in his absence.

Friends of Jamaica will also send out updates about how the donations made in Will’s name will be used to support the children and community.
